HUPE organising comittee

HUPE: David Crystal, Olha Madylus, Piotr Steinbrich, Lindsay Clandfield, Marija Andraka―these esteemed speakers were special guests at the 20th HUPE Conference, which took place in beautiful Opatija this April.

Excellent David Crystal

The conference was extremely well attended, with almost 400 delegates from all over the world exchanging their ELT experiences. HUPE Conference is special because it offers a variety of topics for each and every participant but also gives simultaneous sessions by both international as well as our own Croatian speakers. A lot of young teachers decide to attend conferences like this one, making their first step toward acquiring the experience of their colleagues whom they admired through their schooldays.

Apart from teaching and learning, social events are something our organizing committee is proud of. This year’s social events included David and Hillary Crystal’s “Speaking Shakespearean”; London Calling stand-up comedy, which surprisingly still had that ELT/ELL note; and the Best of the Best party after an amazing Pecha Kucha evening. HUPE celebrated its 20th birthday with its followers as well as with its past and present officials, giving all the participants an insight into how it was back then and how it is right now.
