My name is Hind Elyas, and I have been a TESOL International Association member since 2016. I am a very passionate believer in TESOL International’s vision and mission. I have always wanted to get more involved with the association and play a more active role, and I was fortunate to be given that opportunity. It is a chance to give back to an association that has given me so much and helped me develop in so many ways, personally and professionally.

This year has been an inspirational year for me with the TESOL International Association. I have been selected as a 2021 TESOL Leadership Mentoring Award recipient and Incoming Chair of the Professional Development Professional Council.

I am very enthusiastic and excited about the TESOL 2021 Convention, and I am thrilled that it will be virtual this year for many reasons. Not only will I get the opportunity to attend, but I am proud and honored to have been selected as one of the four 2021 TESOL Convention Ambassadors and to have the opportunity to represent this fabulous association and be part of something great!

The TESOL 2021 Convention attracts thousands of participants from all around the world, and It is a unique opportunity to build a professional network, attend thought-provoking sessions and meet like-minded TESOLers.

It is an honor to have the opportunity to actively promote the TESOL convention on my social media pages such as Facebook, Linked In, and Instagram. I aim to help members and non-members learn about all the wonderful opportunities provided by this exceptional convention and the TESOL International Association in general. It is also a chance to connect with presenters and participants on social media and stay in touch to share comments and feedback.

Being a convention Ambassador has also allowed me to do more than just post exciting news and updates about this fabulous event; it also allows me to interact with my audiences, invite and encourage them to join our association, and attend the event.

It is an opportunity to highlight the benefits of attending the convention, share TESOL’s inspiring videos, posts, and recordings to motivate and encourage participants to engage with the convention and feel that they are part of this great event! This rewarding experience has allowed me to learn more about our wonderful association, develop as a professional, share, connect and engage.

As an Ambassador, I also get to keep the attendees informed and give newcomers a glimpse of what the convention offers. I am looking forward to raising people’s awareness and reaching a wider scope of participants worldwide to share my passion for TESOL International and share information about all the top-notch services offered to members, hopefully increasing attendance and empowering others to bring about change.

I am also excited about engaging with friends, colleagues, teachers, academics, and presenters to learn, network, and share updates about speakers and sessions before the event and sharing the best takeaways after the event.
