As the second year of the pandemic carries on, the TESOL International Association has developed innovative new approaches to reaching and supporting its teachers and learners around the world. TESOL is preparing for its first hybrid convention in Pittsburgh, and the Affiliate Network will be there with sessions from around the globe and how we have coped. I’m pleased to say that the Affiliate Network and Professional Council has added two new members to help support the work of the Affiliate Peer Advisory Program, a group that helps connect affiliate organizations to TESOL and a wealth of information to support leaders and boards.
This year the ANPC went global as well. We travelled to many affiliate conferences and organizations ourselves. We recently presented as part of a panel at SPELT’s conference and NYSTESOL and very shortly will participate in a panel at TESOL Italy. I would like to thank our team starting with Bessie Karras-Lazaris the Chair from CATESOL, Dr. Linh Phung, the incoming chair, from Three Rivers TESOL, Jermaine McDougald from TESOL Colombia, Cherrilynn Washington from GATESOL, Valerie Jakar from ETAI (Israel), Petro Okoth from TELA (Tanzania), Karen Newman (INTESOL), and newly elected members Hanaa Khamis NileTESOL, and Laura Baecher from NYSTESOL. The ANPC is as diverse as the members it serves with ANPC members representing 10 distinct affiliates, 5 from the USA, and 5 from around the world. The new members will continue to help support the work of the ANPC to fulfill our mission.
I would also like to thank Joyce Kling, the incoming TESOL President, who has been very supportive of the work of the Council and has been the Board Liaison to the ANPC for most of the last year. We sincerely thank her for all her help and to Gabriela Kleckova, the current TESOL President for her support before that. And I would be remiss not to thank our staff partner, Valerie Novick, who supports the Affiliate Network and the ANPC.
I hope to see you all in the new year, and in the Affiliate Network myTESOL Community as well!
