ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
Applied Linguistics Interest Section

Dear ALISers,

For the past few years, almost every ALIS business meeting has raised the issue of what we, as a professional group, stand for. Who are we? What do we do? What is our mission? We would like to call on our members to participate in the discussion of a possible statement of our mission and professional values. Please join this discussion in the community pages.

On a related note, this section of the newsletter is called About This Community. We would like to propose that we use this section to get better acquainted with each other’s research and teaching interests. We’d like our members to introduce themselves in a short paragraph and submit their statements and photos to Jana and Olga. In each subsequent newsletter we’ll publish these, a few at a time.

Looking forward to your input!
