Lilia Savova defines communities of practice (CoPs) in comparison to small groups and offers an example of an electronic poster project that could be completed in a CoP. She also provides examples of adaptations of this project for different audiences, educational goals, and contexts.
Quick response (QR) codes allow students to easily engage with online materials, including videos, podcasts, images, and more. Students become more accountable for their own learning by applying their language skills to a wide variety of English stimuli using their personal devices. This article reviews the benefits of mobile-assisted language use, introduces practical resources for creating and scanning QR codes, outlines a multipart lesson that incorporates them, and provides a variety of ideas for integrating them into collaborative and communicative lessons.
