Dear ICIS Members and Friends,
Greetings!
It is my pleasure to serve as the chair for this next year, and
in the process I look forward to working with and getting to know many
of you!
To those who presented on behalf of the Intercultural
Communication Interest Section in Dallas, thank you! Your presentations
added to the growing body of intercultural communication work in ELT and
are invaluable.
It was wonderful to see many of you at the open meeting in
Dallas. Thank you for coming and for sharing your perspectives and
ideas. We look forward to seeing you again next year in Portland,
Oregon!
We are excited to welcome Nasima Yamchi as the chair-elect. She
brings with her an incredible amount of intercultural communication
experience and wisdom. We are also very thankful for Amy Chastain’s
continued service as our newsletter editor and for Chris Spackman’s
service as our community manager.
We also very much welcome your contributions and input!
Here are some ways to get involved in ICIS:
- Write a short article about your context for the newsletter.
- Post intercultural communication–related items (news story,
TV program, article, YouTube clip, etc.) to the e-list for discussion
and/or for use in the classroom.
- Think about volunteering to be a newsletter editor, community
manager, or chair-elect for the 2014–2016 term.
- Dream up a new intercultural project for us.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Warmly,
Laura Jacob
