Greetings, ICIS Members and Friends!
Just as autumn has come to the northern hemisphere, bringing
changing weather and changing colors, so are there many changes in
ICIS!
First, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our wonderful
new newsletter editor, Kris Acheson-Clair! She is the one to thank for
this wonderful newsletter you are now reading! She comes to ICIS with a
wealth of intercultural communication wisdom, knowledge, and experience.
Next, we have a new chair-elect, Amy Chastain. Amy has served
ICIS ably, knowledgably, and cheerfully in her role as our newsletter
editor. She stepped in to fill the chair-elect role when our previous
chair-elect Nasima Yamchi realized the role was too much for her as she
is in the midst of dissertation-writing and teaching. We miss her but
wish her well!
And, as time marches forward, we are now in the middle of ICIS
chair-elect 2014–2015 elections! Please be sure to participate when the
ballot reaches your inbox!
Shantou University’s English Language Center is hosting an
exciting intercultural communication conference at the end of April in
Shantou, China. It’s not too late to write a proposal! If you’re
interested, please read about conference details and submission
information. Please note that the conference submission deadline has been extended to November 17th, 2013.
Please watch the e-list for a forthcoming survey; we would like
your input and feedback on the issues that you are facing in your
context and how we can best serve the membership.
Lastly, the e-list is always “there” to serve you, should you
need any intercultural resources or insights from your EFL/ESL
colleagues!
Warmly,
Laura Jacob |
