Hello ICIS Friends!

It’s that time again, when we bring you updates from our desks in sunny Texas and what seems to be right now a warmer British Columbia! How lovely it is to be able to connect with you again as we wind down for the spring semester and get ready for summer! Natalia and I have just a few things that we’d like to share with you as we transition into another year (2016–2017) as co-editors.

We wanted to remind you that newsletters are accessible by all members of our community,  and so if you want to get your ideas out, our ICIS newsletter is definitely the way to go! Also, we felt that our thematic newsletters worked really well last year, so we have decided to continue with thematic newsletters for the upcoming year. Our themes will be:

(a) Cultural Synergy
(b) Intercultural Communication in EFL Contexts
(c) Engage, Enrich, Empower

These three issues are scheduled to come out on 1 November 2016, 1 March 2017, and 1 June 2017. If you haven’t gotten a chance to do so just yet, please be sure to take a look at our last edition of the InterCom and submit to our upcoming editions!

Finally, we are excited about continuing our Member Spotlights, where we highlight the work of an individual from our ICIS membership. We will be glad to receive your nominations for these spotlights as it is always wonderful to have new insights to share with the field.

We are eager to serve you in the upcoming year and to support your work. Please do let us know what else we can do.

Cheers!

Patriann and Natalia

ICIS Co-editors, 2016–2017

Fun Facts about Patriann and Natalia: Patriann enjoys hiking and feels rejuvenated when she hikes a great trail! Despite a busy spring 2016 semester, she has hiked three trails so far at the Caprock Canyon State Park in Quitaque, Texas; the Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico; and the Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Canyon, Texas. She is excited about doing more hiking this summer.

Natalia has always lived in large cities with developed public transport systems, which is why despite working for multiple car dealerships, she still does not know how to drive.
