Dear IEP Community:

With the convention around the corner, we are excited to offer this preconvention newsletter! In this issue, we have two articles previewing convention sessions: one on flipping the classroom and another on institutional culture shock for faculty at IEPs. In addition, we have an article on student attitudes toward English-only policies, a commentary on communicative language teaching, and a short piece from our AAIEP colleagues highlighting the recent Professional Development Workshop.

We are proud to offer a robust newsletter with a variety of topics once again, and we are grateful to have an active interest section. As we’ve mentioned before, our newsletter is nothing without your articles, so if you are interested in writing, please let us know. See the call for submissions and submission guidelines at the end of the newsletter for more information.

We hope you enjoy this edition of our newsletter; look for the next one at the end of the summer. In the meantime, we hope to see you at the convention in Dallas!

Krista Bittenbender Royal is the special programs coordinator of the English Language Program at the University of South Florida.

Christina Quartararo is the assistant director of The Language Connection: the English Language Institute of St. John’s University.
