Hello, everyone!

We hope you are well. Welcome to our December 2021 newsletter!. We are glad to be continuing with our newsletter despite the certain challenges and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many thanks to the ITA working group meetings and the webinar series for keeping us informed and connected during these challenging times. We also hope to see all of you in TESOL 2022, either virtually or in-person. This time, ITAIS and CALLIS will present an academic session focusing on tech tools for ITAs’ preparation and will be led by Stacy Suhadolc and Dr. Jane Chien. We hope you can participate and attend.

In this newsletter, we have an article from Jane Harvey and Elizabeth Ramsay regarding a new initiative at their university in which undergraduate student volunteers from the Communication Science and Disorders program were paired with ITAs. In our member highlights article, we learn more about the journeys of Denise Mussman, Jennifer Brondell, and Elise Geither as well as their reflections regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and steps forward. Finally, we have an article from Mo Burke in which she describes her own experiences related to teaching and working with students during COVID-19.

As a reminder, please don’t forget to check out our community events page led by Kayla Landers and social events information prepared by Belinda Braunstein.

See you in-person and virtually!
