| Greetings PAIS Members,
It’s that time of year again, and soon many of us will be
gathering in Baltimore for TESOL 2016! This year will be an
extra-special event as we celebrate the 50th year of TESOL. We hope that
many of you will be able to join us for all of the memorable sessions,
important networking, and motivating conversations that are sure to take
place.
This latest edition of the PAIS Newsletter
has great articles that you are sure to enjoy. You can read about a
well-structured method that allows administrators to successfully design
structured, easily digestible, and engaging professional development
workshops for their teachers from information received in conference
sessions. This issue also looks at the use of agents for international
student recruitment, in addition to perspectives of both administrators
and applicants in the hiring process. Additionally, there is an
informative review of A Handbook for Language Program
Administrators. Last but not least, you will get to meet
Tarana Patel, founder of learnEd, in the Meet the Member
column.
As we bring this year to a close, we would like to thank Bev
Earles for her amazing leadership in PAIS for the last year. Her
contributions to this interest section (along with her mentoring for the
incoming chairs) have been invaluable. The 2016–2017 team, which will
assume its position at the close of the 2016 conference, will definitely
benefit from all that she has done and will continue to
contribute.
