TESOL SRIS: SURVEY FOR INTERSECTIONS OF IDENTITY & ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING STRAND

The SRIS Advocacy strand, Intersections of Identity and English Language Teaching, aims to raise awareness and foster dialogue and debate about different conceptualizations and practices of identity among our ELT communities. Understanding that identity is the result of complex relational processes of individual agency as well as institutional imposition and that it manifests both fluidity and fixity enables us to reflect on who we are and how we act in particular social contexts. Thus, the Intersections of Identity and ELT Advocacy promotes building a coalitional allyship through conversations among members across and within different linguistic, cultural, racial/ethnic, gender/sex, religious, and geographical backgrounds.
