Olena Aydarova's "Reconceptualizing the Microteaching Simulation From a Sociocultural Perspective" is a report on Karen Johnson and Yekaterina Arshavina's presentation from TESOL 2010. Though she agrees on the importance of pedagogical content knowledge that the presenters highlighted, Aydarova at the same time shares her own views regarding Johnson and Arshavina's study findings.
Percival Guevarra, in his article, "Empowering Learners in Open Enrollment Classes," shares practical tips for dealing with challenges in the open enrollment classes while maintaining learner-centered instruction. His sharing includes sample planning guidelines, introductory tasks, and suggestions for promoting learner collaboration.
Miriam Lavi, on the basis of her experience, reports on the challenges of being a personal ESL trainer in "How to Become a Personal ESL Trainer." She discusses the practical issues related to the world of ESL trainers and the "C factor" as a guiding principle that ESL trainers should take into consideration.
Chris Roe, in "Teaching English Learners to Read Difficult Text: Using Graphic Organizers for Text Success," talks about the effectiveness of using graphic organizers in reading difficult text. He shares his own learning experience as a teacher through working with English learners in the classroom.
