LEADERSHIP UPDATES
LETTER FROM THE CHAIR-ELECT
Claudio Fleury,Casa Thomas Jefferson, Brasília, Brazil

Dear CALL-IS Colleagues,

The CALL-IS team of coordinators has been busy preparing the Electronic Village (EV) events for the 2017 TESOL International Association convention. There is always something going on at the EV Fair and the Technology Showcase, so plan to visit us and remember to purchase the EV pass when you register for the convention.

If you are new to CALL, make sure to visit one of the Ask Us or CALL for Newcomers sessions. The EV Fairs and EV Classics are packed with interesting and useful ideas to include technology in your classes. Check the Hot Topics and, new this year, the “On the Cutting Edge: Graduate Students Panels.” Besides all the EV sessions and presentations, the CALL-IS academic session and InterSections also take place at the EV. These are this year’s sessions:

  • CALL-IS Academic Session: A CALL for 21st-Century Reading

  • CALL-IS/TEIS InterSection: Preparing Teachers to Make Intelligent Technology Decisions in Language Teaching

  • MWIS/PAIS/CALL-IS InterSection: Meeting Today's Needs and Tomorrow's Realities for ELT Materials

  • EFLIS/CALL-IS InterSection: EFL Learners Empowered Through CALL

You are also invited to participate in the CALL-IS Open Meeting and Steering Committee Meeting. If you are a primary member of CALL-IS, you can help choose the new members of the steering committee and learn how you can get more involved with the EV, during the convention as well as round the year. And if you won’t be able to make it to the convention in Seattle, make sure to watch some of the EV and Technology Showcase sessions’ live webcasts. You can find more information on these sessions here.

Looking forward to seeing you in all in Seattle!

Best regards,

Claudio Fleury
