MESSAGE FROM THE CO-CHAIRS
Katherine Earley, HEIS Co-Chair, Durham, New Hampshire, USA & Yogesh Sinha, HEIS Co-Chair, Sohar, Oman

Dear HEIS Community,

We would like to begin with a thank you to our community and its contributions to our HEIS newsletter, and especially to Maria Ammar, our editor—you each add to maintaining the vibrancy of our field.

As most are certainly aware, our 21–24 March 2017 annual convention is fast approaching. This year’s theme, “The World Comes Together at TESOL,” is aptly appropriate as we venture into 2017. TESOL is a model for inclusiveness, evidenced through our various position statements and papers found on the TESOL website.

As co-chairs, we are thrilled to present a robust convention to our community—more than 240 of our HEIS colleagues submitted convention proposals; 46 proposals as well as 16 poster sessions were accepted for this year’s convention. Congratulations to all and much appreciation to everyone who went through the rigorous review process.

Please make note that convention registration is open. You can register for the 2017 convention on the convention website. Take some time to peruse the site.

We look forward to seeing you all in Seattle—stay tuned for communications from us regarding 2017 HEIS convention events.

Wishing you each a wonderful and healthy 2017!

Sincerely,

Katherine Earley and Yogesh Sinha
