Dear TESOL Teacher Educators,
It was a pleasure serving as the chair of the Teacher Education
Interest Section (TEIS) for 2019–2020, and I’m eager to highlight the
innovative work that one of our colleagues has undergone this year to
further our profession.
Most recently, TEIS Chair, Dr. Faridah Pawan of Indiana
University, moderated a webinar entitled “Cultural Differences in Online
Cross-Cultural Dialogues.” This timely discussion featured a
conversation with scholars from Florida State University about their
research on cultural differences in online environments across different
global regions. They outlined factors impacting online communication,
like EFL/ESL, national culture, organizational culture and
techno-culture, and discussed pedagogical implications of their
findings. The webinar is available at the link below, as is their
research article.
The 2020-2021 TEIS leadership sends wishes for continued good
health and spirits to all our members. We look forward to a year of
activities and renewal of our energy and commitment to the field of
teacher education.” The 2020-2021 TEIS Leadership Team, Faridah Pawan
(Chair); Michelle Benegas (Chair Elect); Kate Mastruserio-Reynolds
(Chair Elect Elect), Fatma Ghailan and Bridget Schvarcz, (Co-Editors of
Newsletter); Babak Khoshnevisan, (Community Manager)
We’d also love the chance to publish your original research or
pedagogy article in future TEIS newsletters, so send your manuscripts toteis.newsletter@gmail.com.
Wishing you an engaging and inspiring year ahead,
Kristen Lindahl |
