Dear Colleagues,

Welcome once again to another issue of the Teacher Educator Interest Section Newsletter. In this issue, we focus on the variety of professional development that teachers and teacher educators can undertake. There are many development opportunities for teachers themselves, but how can teacher educators best exploit what is available for their own growth? Coming from all over the world, the articles in this issue focus on the one same question - where and how do teacher educators engage in lifelong learning? Do our beliefs encourage or hinder our own CPD practices? Vu Tran-Thanh explores this in his article. And if we do engage in CPD, what are our options? We can work on a small scale and reflect on our own practices, as suggested by Aviva Ueno, or play an active role within our teaching association, whether local or global, as described by Beatrix Price. But what about teacher educators in non-traditional settings, such as language schools, or freelancers? Jim Fuller shares his story in his article.

As with our previous issue, we would like to invite you to a Town Hall on 1 March 2023 to discuss the ideas in the articles and share your own insights on professional development for teacher educators and trainers. Look out for the announcement through myTESOL and our social media channels.

In this issue also, we continue our ‘Meet our …’ series and we’ve interviewed Vu Tran-Tranh, our newest edition to June, after the TESOL Convention in Portland. We’ll be sharing our convention stories. Would you like to write an article for this issue? Our Call for Submissions has all the information you need.

We hope you enjoy this issue as much as we have enjoyed putting it together.

We look forward to meeting you at the TESOL 2023 International Convention and Language Expo in Portland - look out for announcements on TEIS activities and presentations!

Best wishes,

Bridget Schvarcz, Khanh-Duc Kuttig & Vu Tran-Thanh
