Teacher Educator Interest Section: Second Language Teacher Education in Asia Issue
Deadline for Submissions: 31 July 2023
The Teacher Educator Interest Section (TEIS) of TESOL Int’l invites submissions for the Fall 2023 issue of our IS newsletter. The next issue of our publication will focus on "Second Language Teacher Education in Asia." The development of ESL teacher education in Asia is critical given the growing importance of English as a global language. The demand for English language learning is increasing rapidly in the region, driven by factors such as globalization, internationalization, and economic development. Therefore, the development of effective second language teacher education programs that are culturally sensitive, contextually relevant, and based on sound pedagogical principles is essential.
We welcome articles on a wide range of topics related to second language teacher education in Asia, including but not limited to:
- Best practices in second language teacher education
- Approaches to curriculum design and implementation
- Innovations in technology-assisted language teaching and learning
- Assessment and evaluation of language teacher effectiveness
- Challenges and opportunities in second language teacher education in Asia
- Stories from teacher educators
We welcome submissions from teacher candidates’ voices, new teachers, teacher educators, mentor teachers, field supervisors--all of us involved in TESOL teacher education. We especially encourage contributions from those who are based in Asia or who have experience working with language teachers in this region.
Articles
Articles should be between 800 and 1,750 words and should pertain to the questions posed above.
Book Reviews
Book reviews of between 300 and 500 words should provide the reviewer’s analysis of books that are relevant to the practice and theory of (language) teacher education.
TEIS Voices
TEIS voices are paragraphs of approximately 100 words that introduce a teacher educator’s work or program. TEIS voices serve as a networking tool as well as an opportunity to shine a spotlight on a teacher, program, or country we might not otherwise read about.
