Welcome to the February issue of TESOL Video
News. I hope all of you enjoyed your winter break and had
enough rest. This year’s weather seems to be extraordinarily cold: We
have heard reports about cold weather in many places around the world. I
hope you are all well and fine.
In this issue, we have Lisa Leopold, from Monterey Institute of
International Studies, sharing her techniques of using digital media
storytelling to improve students’ listening. Then two scholars from
Turkey, Dr. Meral Guceri and Naime Meltem Bizim, reveal the results of
their brief research study on incorporating video in teacher education.
The Video IS is soliciting articles for future issues of TESOL Video News. If you are interested in using
movies or creating digital media lessons, you are more than welcome to
share your experience with us. Submit articles or announcements to me, Kenneth Chi. You
may also send opinions and suggestions at any time to the leaders (see
the end of this issue for contact information) or to the e-list. We look
forward to hearing from you.
Kenneth Chi received his TESOL teacher certificate
at Teachers College, Columbia University, and his MA from New York
University and is currently teaching at Fu Jen Catholic University,
Taipei, Taiwan. He has been teaching English as a foreign language for
more than 15 years. His interests are incorporating movies and digital
media into language lessons, assessment, and grammar teaching. |
