In this last and final issue of our Video and Digital Media
Interest Section (VDMIS) newsletter, I want to welcome you all and, at
the same time, bid you a very fond farewell. I have enjoyed working
immensely with Coeditor Kenneth Chyi, who has never hesitated to give me
sound input and advice. Heartfelt thanks also to our present noble
leaders, Elke Stappert and Suzi Lee, and to the past leadership of Scott
Duarte and Julie Lopez. I want to congratulate the contributors in this
issue and thank all those who worked so hard in past postconvention
issues for my half of the coediting.
Please remember that you can continue to participate in our
VDMIS group, which is now undergoing changes; if you are interested in
some form of digital activities or video lessons, you are warmly
encouraged to contribute by sharing your learning and experiences. You
will find us online: On Facebook (TESOL Video
PLN), myTESOL,
and TESOL’s
YouTube channel (after 1 May).
I myself will be going back to Canada permanently in August and
hope to continue teaching, even though I recently celebrated my 70th
birthday. At my age, I am going back to studying the Canadian Language
Benchmarks in order to strengthen the portfolio I will submit to TESL
Ontario for accreditation. After 22 years of teaching in Japan, I need
their approval because many colleges and universities now require this
accreditation. It has been an enormous pleasure working with you all,
and I have learned much about editing and revisions. I also wish to
thank Michelle Kim for her ongoing patience, guidance, and support when
submitting post-convention newsletters to TESOL editors.
Best wishes to you all and my eternal gratitude to a super group!
