The meeting was called to order at 18:52.
Greetings and introductions were made by Chair Johanna Katchen.
Old Business
2013 Minutes approved online.
New Business
Officers and Members of the Steering Committee for 2014–2015
The chair, chair-elect, and past chair, who were already known,
and Joyce Cunningham, who was not present, had expressed their desire
for some help with the newsletter editor tasks. Kenneth Chyi, a past
newsletter editor, volunteered to assist. Christel Broady volunteered
for the steering committee and Duysevi Mirza Karan Miyar was nominated
as member of the steering committee and later agreed via
e-mail.
Preparation for the 2015 Convention in Toronto
Intersection: Johanna Katchen reported that
in the Wednesday workshop SPLIS and ITA agreed to participate in an
InterSection sponsored by VDMIS.
Academic Session: After some discussion, a
title was agreed upon: “From Consuming to Manipulating—A Comprehensive
Approach to Mobile Multimedia.” Further online discussion will finalize
the topics and speakers.
Proposal Readers: Johanna, Kenneth, Scott,
Jason, and Christel volunteered, with later agreement from
Duysevi.
Beyond the Convention
How can we increase membership in our IS? Discussion on listserv. What else?
Members in Attendance
6: Christel, Jason, Scott, Ken, Johanna, and long-time
videophile but recent CALL member Randall Davis came later
after attending the CALL Business Meeting.

IS Award, TESOL 2014
Each year the chair for the previous
year gets a certificate from TESOL. Here we see, Johanna Katchen
receiving the award for service as VDMIS chair from ISLC (Interest
Section Leadership Council) Leslie Kirshner-Morris.
