COMMUNITY UPDATE

Facebook & Twitter

Our Facebook group is interactive, and we have increased our membership here from 60 in January to 65 in April. There have been a few new postings in conjunction with the 2017 TESOL convention in Seattle, Washington, USA. During the ICIS meeting at the convention, it was suggested that we get a Twitter account going; we’ve just initiated one in April 2017. It’s @TESOL_ICIS and the account is already following Jeremy Slagoski @jdslagoski and Natalia Balyasnikova @_balyasnikova. Please start following us on Twitter, and we’ll continue growing our group.

I, Jeremy Slagoski, am managing the Twitter account now. I’m incidentally conducting a research project that investigates English language teachers’ usage of Twitter and other social media for professional development and culture learning, so I’m excited to help organize this professional learning network. I plan to sync our Facebook and Twitter pages soon and reach out to others on Twitter who have an interest in intercultural communication. If you have any questions or concerns regarding Twitter for ICIS, please contact me through myTESOL.

Best,

Jeremy
