ABOUT THIS COMMUNITY

COMMUNITY UPDATE

It’s been a mostly quiet summer in the community on our multiple platforms: myTESOL, Facebook, and Twitter. Since April, the ICIS page on myTESOL has mostly been used to invite people to submit proposals for papers and presentations to the TESL Canada convention and The Font, a literary journal for language teachers. The community has also been gathering ideas for speakers for the ICIS academic session at the 2018 TESOL convention in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Our Facebook group now has 102 members, and many of us have been posting relevant content on its page a few times each month. Our newer Twitter page has 40 followers, with new posts at a similar rate as on our Facebook group page. We have yet to generate an engaging discussion on any of these platforms, so if you have ideas for online engagement, please contact me, Jeremy Slagoski, at slagoski23@gmail.com. With the academic year starting for most of us, I expect our line of work will inspire some ideas for discussion.

Jeremy Slagoski is an adjunct instructor at Rend Lake College, Illinois.
