IEPIS ACADEMIC SESSION

TESOL 2011
Ernest N. Morial Convention Center
New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
March 17-19, 2011

Planning to attend the TESOL 2011 Convention in New Orleans? If so, please consider attending our IEP Interest Section’s Academic Session, “Real-World Academic Writing: What English Programs Need to Know.”

What is an Academic Session? The Academic Session, one of the highlights of the program at the TESOL convention, is a panel presentation that enables respected experts in the field to address topics of current relevance to the interest section.

At TESOL 2011, the Academic Session presenters offer their perspectives on issues about writing instruction that concern IEPs: What are the real-world writing needs in English-medium academic programs in higher education? Panelists share insights about typical genres and characteristics of written assignments in undergraduate and graduate programs. They will discuss the challenges of written assignments in academic courses and the implications for writing instruction within IEPs.

We are pleased to announce the presenters for this year’s Academic Session: Alister Cumming, University of Toronto; Dana Ferris, University of California, Davis; Lynn Goldstein, Monterey Institute of International Studies; Diane Schmitt, Nottingham Trent University UK; Organizer: Carol Romett, Georgetown University.

Date: March 18, 2011
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
Location: Convention Center, Room 223
