Dear Colleagues,
Summer flew by! For many of us, this is always our problem as the new school year looms. Summer usually feels like a reprieve, but for our steering committee, they have been quite busy. I’d like to thank Cynthia DeRoma, our chair-elect, and Sarah Kegley, one of our members at large, for organizing topics and speakers for our ITAIS academic and intersection sessions for the upcoming TESOL 2022 international convention. July is the busiest for us as we finalize speakers and submit abstracts for the sessions. A big thank you to you both!
I’d also like to thank Kayla Landers, our community events coordinator, for putting out a survey to see what kinds of webinar topics our ITAIS members would be interested in this year. Kayla has been hard at work behind the scenes to secure speakers and topics for our upcoming webinars. I’ll let her share the details of those as they get closer.
This fall semester, we are back to teaching either on campus or virtually. Since we are still in a pandemic, some of our future teaching contexts are unknown. I want to thank all of you who gathered virtually these past few months to collaborate and discuss various topics related to your ITA programs. Change continues to be a constant. If we needed to suddenly shift gears due to the pandemic, I am confident that we have a community of ITAIS members who are there to support one another.
This newsletter is one way that we continue to support one another. I would like to thank our newsletter editors, James Coda and Ekaterina Arshavskaya, for putting together this edition. Please feel free to reach out to them if you have any ideas for future newsletter articles.
Thank you to our member community for being who you are. All of your contributions to this interest section are valued by our members. I look forward to seeing you at our future webinars!
Best,
