LEADERSHIP UPDATES LETTER FROM THE CHAIR
Greetings ITAIS-ers, TESOL 2018 is quickly approaching, which means that my term as the ITAIS chair is also winding down. What an exciting term it has been! I would like to thank the 2017–2018 steering committee for their work over the past year, especially Derina Samuel and Mo Burke. Just last month we submitted our 3-year plan and intention to remain an interest section in TESOL. A major part of the plan includes our intention to hold three webinars this year. Webinars are a great venue for us to interact throughout the year and an opportunity for folks who might not be able to attend TESOL to contribute to the ITA community. We hope that you will consider sharing your work. Looking forward to the conference, we have an exciting program coming up. You can access the program and search by interest section and session type using the TESOL convention app on your smartphone or desktop. At the conference, a great group of leaders will take the reins for the 2018–2019 year. Derina Samuel (Cornell University) will be the chair and Mo Burke (Georgia Institute of Technology) will be the chair-elect. Maria Mendoza (Florida State University) will be the secretary. Ekaterina Ashavskay (Utah State University) and Stacy Suhadolc (Pennsylvania State University) will serve as members-at-large. Laura Murphy (University of South Florida) will finish her term as newsletter editor, and we are looking for an editor-elect, so if you would like to volunteer please contact Derina or me. I look forward to seeing you in Chicago! Best, Stephen Looney |
