In this issue, we are pleased to present articles that
represent the work of teacher-researchers in a number of different
educational contexts. We are also pleased to present a variety of types
of articles: overviews of classroom practices, a small-scale study, an
opinion piece, and action research. We thank all authors for sharing
their ideas with SLWIS members.
We hope that the action research article will be a model for
future submissions. Karen Best, a new member of our editorial staff,
will be working with teacher-researchers who would like to submit
write-ups of current action research projects. If you are currently
working on a project that you would like to share, please contact Karen for information
and guidance.
In addition, we hope that IS members will find useful the
information provided about the upcoming TESOL convention. Included are
highlights of SLWIS special sessions and events as well as a complete
list of presentations that focus on second language writing. We
encourage members who participate in or attend SLW-related sessions to
consider writing up a summary for the next issue of the newsletter.
Unfortunately, only a fraction of our membership can attend the annual
convention; by submitting a summary, you can help all members join the
conversation.
Finally, we would like to welcome both Karen Best and Gena
Bennett to the editorial team. And, we would like to thank Marian
Woyciehowicz Gonsior for her years of service to SLWIS. She is rolling
off the editorial board this year in order to work on other TESOL
projects. If you’d like to get involved in SLWIS, consider joining the
team as an associate or book review editor. Contact Margi for
details.
