MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR

Dear HEIS Community,

I am sad to let you know that our Book Review Editor, Melanie Jipping, has stepped down from her position. She was a great member of the HEIS newsletter team, always involved in helping us with recruiting writers, editing, and putting out great book reviews from HEIS News writers and herself. Melanie will be missed for all the hard work and dedication she put in as book review editor.

I am happy to introduce to everyone our new book review editor, Joseph Slick, who has written a brief introduction of himself:

I am a 20-year TESOL professional with a dual PhD in composition and TESOL, with experience teaching and directing in Saudi Arabia, Italy, and the United States. I have traveled to five continents (North America/Central America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia) and sailed on three oceans (Atlantic, Pacific, Indian). Last December, I visited Peru and I fell in love with Arequipa and Urubamba. (I also completed one of my bucket list items in visiting the incredible Machu Picchu!) I would love to go back as it was really incredible. I am planning on visiting Korea for my next incredible trip! I am grateful to TESOL for giving me the teaching skills to travel throughout the world and meeting many incredible and amazing people. I am working to create and participate in a world of shared resources and community as part of my commitment to TESOL.

If you are interested in writing for the newsletter or being on the editing team, please contact me and let me know. We are always grateful for new contributors and volunteers to help us build our next issue!

Best regards,

Maria Ammar
