Teaching and Learning Pronunciation: Local
and global perspectives on research and
practice
We are pleased to announce a one-day pronunciation symposium to
be held in conjunction with the Australian Council of TESOL
Associations (ACTA) Conference in beautiful Cairns, on the Great Barrier
Reef, in July 2012. The symposium features a morning colloquium in
which invited experts will address current issues related to teaching
and learning English pronunciation in both local and global contexts.
The afternoon program includes breakout sessions targeting classroom
teaching, research, and teacher education.

TESOL As a Global Trade – Ethics, Equity, and Ecology
Key topics from the pronunciation symposium will be explored
further at the ACTA International
Conference, which immediately follows with a dedicated
pronunciation strand and featured speakers Tracey Derwing and Brock
Brady. The Call for Abstracts for this strand is now
open and closes March 2012. Proposals on all aspects of pronunciation
research and practice are welcome.
