Dear SPLIS Members,
TESOL 2018 in Chicago provided a lot of great opportunities for
networking, meeting new people, and getting fresh ideas. The SPLIS
presentations had a lot of great things to offer; I especially enjoyed
John Levis’ fascinating overview of the history of English pronunciation
teaching. I'm looking forward to what next year's convention has in
store.
After TESOL 2019 in Atlanta, we plan to put out a special issue
of the SPLIS newsletter featuring a survey of classroom materials. As
an editor of the special issue, I want to encourage you to submit a
review of some of the materials that you have used in the speaking,
listening, and/or pronunciation classroom. Is there a textbook that you
really love? Is there a new book you've been trying out? Are there two
books you'd like to compare? Please take some time to write about it and
submit your description or review of classroom textbooks or related
classroom materials. The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2019.
