1. Title: Grappling with the Group Dynamic
Abstract:
The group dynamic plays a key role in the success of
peer-to-peer tasks in adult ESOL classes. In this session, participants
will explore effective frameworks for group tasks and walk away with
techniques to address the classroom management and instructional
challenges that arise when working with various personalities.

3. Title: Technology Integration in Siberia: Lessons Learned
Abstract:
The K-12 EFL instructor from Republic Sakha (Yakutia) in
Siberia discusses a variety of ways to integrate technology in
classrooms with limited access to the Internet and computers. The
examples of technology integration include collaborative online
projects, Web 2.0 integration, and activities like Hot Potatoes.

4. Title: Minnesota Stories About Teaching Academic Language
Abstract:
This panel of K-12 teachers offers snapshots of classroom
academic language instruction through photographs, sample work, and
stories. We share the challenges and joys we experienced in using
activities that focus on academic language. Handouts provide resources
for audience members to explore the activities in their own classrooms.

5. Title: Visually-impaired Teacher & Learners’ Unique Teaching Experience
Abstract:
Teaching ESL to the blind is a challenge
and sometimes an obstacle in an educational context that is full of
sympathy and low expectations. The presenters will provide the
participants with relevant recent research findings and a real ESL
experience of a visually impaired teacher teaching a class of visually
impaired students.
