LETTER FROM THE CHAIR

Dear ICIS Colleagues,

We were very energized to see so many of you at our open meeting at the TESOL convention in Toronto and are looking forward to some great learning experiences throughout the year and at the next convention in Baltimore, Maryland, in 2016!

As our new team is already making some exciting plans, I’d like to thank Amy Alice Chastain, ICIS past chair, for her hard work and enthusiasm, as well as all our speakers at the TESOL convention in Toronto. It was great! We have some updates to the team, as Natalia Balyasnikova joins us as the newsletter editor, with Patriann Smith supporting us as an assistant editor. Our awesome community manager Austin Pack will also be turning his energy toward some new projects and will be turning this position over to Sarah Adams, of Shantou University in Guangdong province, China. Thank you, Austin, for helping the community this past year! Lastly, chair-elect Maxi-Ann Campbell and I are working hard to put together our InterSections and Academic Session for next year’s convention and are very excited for TESOL’s 50th anniversary.

As one of our goals is to increase the reach of the ICIS beyond TESOL, we are excited to share that a group from our ICIS community is also putting together a proposal to present at the IALIC conference again this year. We are also looking for other opportunities to collaborate with other related organizations. Please keep your input and ideas flowing in the Listserv.

Also, we are looking forward to hearing from you! This is your newsletter. Please send us your submissions for articles, video presentations, announcements, and so on. Please see the upcoming newsletter schedule and share your research and stories!

Looking forward to a great year in the ICIS community!

Best,

Heidi J. Faust
