LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Dear IEP Community, As the new editor of the IEPIS Newsletter, it gives me great pleasure to present this issue. Like previous newsletters, there is a nice variety of topics related to different aspects of IEPs. O’Reilly addresses how curriculum change can affect faculty roles, Shvidko offers strategies to expand the use of English outside of the IEP classroom, and Bidegaray and Lavin present strategies for improving effectiveness with students from Brazil, China, and the Gulf. Kmiecik’s lesson combines modals, hashtags, and good old-fashioned sidewalk chalk. In this issue, we also have a “Meet the Member” profile from one of our colleagues in Yemen. Many thanks go to Ilka Kostka, who has been doing these interviews but is now stepping down. If you are interested in taking over the “Meet the Member” feature or would like to be interviewed, please contact me. As always, your submissions to the newsletter are most welcome. Articles, teaching tips, and materials reviews are all of interest to our members. Finally, I would like to thank Krista Bittenbender Royal and Christina Quartararo, the former IEPIS Newsletter editors, for all the work they did on this issue. I would also like to thank Angela Waigand, the chair of the IEPIS, for her help with reading articles. Olivia L.
