LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Pauline Carpenter, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to quickly introduce myself, if I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting you already. I am excited to be bringing you the newsletter this year. As I’m pulling together the first issue, I’m realizing how thankful I am for the guidance of our previous editor, Rebecca Oreto, over the last year. And this year I am thrilled that Ruth Roberts-Kohno will be by my side as we prepare this year’s issues.

This issue’s articles offer some overviews of sessions from our recent convention, including a poster session on ITAs and the stages of mastery, a discussion group on a successful summer orientation program, and a practice-based session on helping ITAs become discourse experts. We’re fortunate that folks have offered to write up their sessions in newsletter format for those of us who could not attend.

I strongly encourage you to contribute to the ITA newsletter, your newsletter! This is the place to share ideas for best practices, tell us about a good book you’ve come across, or present some interesting research.

We look forward to hearing from you,
Pauline
