The Intercultural Communication Center at Carnegie Mellon
University has studied correlations between the TOEFL Speaking score and
international teaching assistant (ITA) assessment scores since 2005.
They use this research to guide the ITAs themselves and also to guide
departments in admissions of potential ITAs and their expectations of
