LETTER FROM THE EDITORS
Hello to all. We hope everyone’s 2014 has been productive and educational so far and continues to be a great year in all of your adventurous projects and teaching endeavors. We present to you a great first issue of our 2014 newsletter. We have an article exploring the method of using technology to promote better speaking and listening skills. In addition, we have a book review that explores the strengths and weaknesses of the Pathways book series. We hope to see many of you in Portland this month. We have a great SPLIS agenda and we hope you are able to take advantage of the opportunity to learn, grow, and share professionally. We encourage SPLIS presenters to share your presentation materials in the SPLIS library on the TESOL website after the convention! As always, we want to remind everyone to share the wonderful things you do in your classroom or the great research you are working on with your fellow SPLIS community in our upcoming issues of As We Speak. We will be accepting submissions for the second 2014 newsletter in June. We as an Interest Section are only as strong as our members make us, so let’s continue to grow together. Finally, we must say farewell to Amanda as co-editor because as of this March, she is the new chair-elect. Congratulations to Amanda, and we wish you the best of luck. Our best to you all,
Amanda Huensch is an assistant professor in the Applied Linguistics/TESL MA program at the University of South Florida. She holds a PhD in linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Lauren Lovvorn has an MA in applied linguistics from Georgia State University and is currently an instructor in the Intensive English Program at the University of Alabama. Her interest in pronunciation began her first semester of graduate school, and since then she has taught several workshops and presented at various conferences on the topic. |
