LEADERSHIP UPDATES

LETTER FROM THE CHAIR

Dear SPLIS Members,

I am excited to be writing to you as this year’s SPLIS chair. I would first and foremost like to thank Veronica Sardegna, our outgoing SPLIS chair, for her service and leadership. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Beth Sheppard, our SPLIS chair-elect for this year. I’m very much looking forward to this coming year!

For those of you who were able to attend, I hope you agree that the TESOL convention was another success! I was impressed by the quantity and quality of SPLIS sessions. I hope many of you will consider submitting a proposal for next year’s convention in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Relatedly, when the call for proposal reviewers is sent out in the coming months, I hope you will consider reviewing proposals for our interest section.

In addition, for those of you who are not receiving SPLIS e-list emails, there are at least two potential issues you may want to check. The first relates to whether you are signed up to receive SPLIS e-list communications. You elect these options by logging in to the TESOL website, clicking on “My Account” and then selecting the “Update Interest Sections” tab on that page. Don’t forget to save your selections. The second potential issue relates to whether you have opted to receive emails individually, as a digest, or “web-only.” If you have the web-only option selected, then you will not receive emails. On the TESOL Community page, select “My Page” and “Edit Profile.” On that page, select “Email Settings.” This is where you can select how you would like to receive emails. More information will be sent out soon regarding accessing the TESOL Community.

We have an excellent newsletter put together by our co-editors. I know they will also be sending out a call for the next newsletter. Please consider sharing your work and ideas.

I’m looking forward to a rewarding and productive year as SPLIS chair. If you have any questions or recommendations, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best,

Amanda
