TEACHING WORLD ENGLISHES TO UNDERGRADUATES IN THE UNITED STATES

As English is spreading globally, native speakers of English are increasingly exposed to speakers of World Englishes (WEs). While WE speakers are trying to gain knowledge and skills to communicate with native speakers, native speakers are rarely encouraged to learn to understand WE speakers (Kubota, 2001).
